The Human body, is perhaps the most adaptable machine that we will ever encounter. The ability to change and function in any given environment can be an advantage, and a dis-advantage to itself. Take for instance astronauts, it takes all but a few days for the body to adapt to weightlessness. Bone density as well as muscle mass suffers due to the fact that they are not a required asset in such an enviroment. Just take a look at an astronaut when it arrives from a mission in space, and pay attention to the trouble he/she has with walking down the stairs of the spaceshuttle, or even holding themselves up for that matter.

Yes, muscle mass can easily be lost if the body sees it as a burden rather than an asset to it's daily survival.

I have always believed, that the body always likes to take the path of least resistance, it is up to the individual to push the body to perform. It must be trained as a whole, not just it's parts. It has no choice but to respond to the training whatever that may be. Train it to lay on a couch, and it will be most comfortable there, train it to climb stairs and when asked to do so, it will with little effort.

My job and passion as a fitness trainer, is to fine tune the Human Machine to perform the task that it is required of it. Whether you are striving for that extra edge in your sport, or if you just want to feel the best you can feel in your everyday life, I can help you achieve your fitness goal.
